WE GOT ISSUES

Join Another Octave as we face issues personal and political

Fall 2022

Tonight’s songs reflect many aspects of life during the pandemic – the pandemic itself, the lockdowns, our feelings about what happened with the Black Lives Matter movement or the recent abortion rights upheaval. Some songs speak to the loneliness and mental instability many suffered during lockdown. Others poke fun at online activities or our increased time spent in cyberspace. We’ve all been through so much, and we finally are inching our way back to normal. Or, at least, I’m not washing my groceries anymore….

So, as you listen tonight, think about the connections between titles and lyrics and what inspired us to include these songs in this concert. Some connections will be easily spotted; but some might take a bit of concentration: A Lark in the “Clear Air.”
We ask you to silence your cellphones, now. You are welcome to read our program notes as we sing, but PLEASE be conscious and considerate of those around you who may be distracted by your phone usage. And make sure to dim those screens if you decide to use them!!

We are SO VERY HAPPY to be singing for you in person once again!
